Christmas : Life & Eternity

Only about half of all Americans see Christmas mostly as a religious event. About one-third of Americans consider it more of a cultural holiday. And less than three-fourths of all children in the U.S. know that Christmas is for celebrating the birth of Christ.
Because of our culture today, people think Santa, the Christmas tree, and all of the presents are the meaning of Christmas.
Christmas, the word itself, proves this holiday is about Christ. I don’t need to tell you that the first six letters spell Christ.
Christmas origin started with the first people. God created the world in seven days. On the last day he created Adam, the first human, who started to become lonely so God created Eve.
Back then God only had one thing that he would call a sin. Adam and Eve were not allowed to eat from the tree of good and evil. One day Eve looked at the tree and Satan came to tempt her and he succeeded. A lot of people wonder why did God not banish them until Adam ate it. It’s because God gave the command to Adam who then told Eve what God  had told him. This is sins birth. The bible says that sin starts in our heart and it grows and becomes death. God promised Adam that in the future sin will end. Then centuries later Jesus was born and he is the one who would end sin. There were people who didn’t believe in what Jesus said about himself so they killed him. Three days later he came back to life and defeated death, which as I said is sin. So when we celebrate Christmas we are celebrating Christ’s coming to this world. He came to save us from our sins. When we celebrate Easter we are celebrating that Christ defeated sin .(the above paragraphs were written by my son who is 13).
This time of the year is a great time to share with others what Christmas is all about. Its time to step out of our comfort zone and bubble and meet our neighbors. You don’t have to say anything except for Merry Christmas. Your gift will say it all.

Visit Shields Date Garden:

Two years ago, the day before Christmas we went here. It was so special. This beautiful place really reminds you about what Christmas is all about: for us to live in eternity with Jesus. How amazing our Lord is that he would  take on a form of an embryo, that he would be born in such a humble place, and then die on the cross for us sinners.

This place has a garden, a café, a store that sells more dates than one can ever dream of. They are located at 80-225 U.S. Highway 111 Indio, CA 92201…Check out their website for more info at www.shieldsdategarden.com
