How to Make a Necktie Wind Chime !

posted in: Uncategorized | 2
I have always enjoyed the sound wind chimes make when its breezy outside. So when my niece came over last weekend I knew that this would be a great crafty project to make.

To get started…
1. You need lots of neckties. We used 7 for each wind chime. We bought ours at the goodwill store for .50 cents each. After throwing them in the washer we were able to get crafty. You also need 2 felt sheets, scissors, hot glue, ribbon, and bells.

2. Cut the neckties in half. We used the larger ends for our chimes. Put the 2 felt pieces next to each other and glue them so that you now have one large felt sheet. Spread the neckties evenly onto the felt sheet. Use hot glue and glue the neckties onto the felt sheet. Fold the felt sheet in half so that you can not see the cut part of the neckties. Use hot glue or staple the top and the bottom felt sheets together. Glue bells on the bottom of each of the neckties. Wrap the felt sheet around itself until you have a circle. Staple and glue the felt sheet in place. Cut 5 to 7 strips of string. Tie the strings between each necktie and felt sheet. Then simply tie all the strings together at the top.

3. Hang your necktie wind chime outside and watch them sway back and forth on a breezy day.

Have fun 🙂
