It is the inner bark of an elm tree. The inner bark is slippery, that’s how it got its name.

Hair Detangle:

 

If your hair has been exposed to too much sun or heat damage then try this hair detangle gel. With slippery elm you’ll have less protein loss.

How to make it: add boiling water to slippery elm bark. Let it cool down. Strain the bark from the water. Discard the slippery elm bark. Place Slippery elm in a glass container and add five drops of lavender essential oil.

Apply to your hair after a wash. Leave it in.

 

Slippery Elm Balls:

 

Next time your throat starts hurting, try making slippery elm balls. Not only do these slippery elm balls contain mucilage which coats the throat and helps with a sore throat, it also tastes amazing.

 

You’ll need slippery elm powder, honey, and chia seeds. Add as much honey as you need. You don’t want it to be too sticky but enough so that your able to turn the slippery elm into balls.

 

If you look at the ingredients of commercial throat lozenges you’ll find that many are made with slippery elm.

Slippery Elm Tea:

 

This tea is so refreshing. Simply add fresh slices of ginger root, elm powder, and water.

Slippery Elm can help you lose weight because it helps you suppress your appetite and encourages you to use the bathroom regularly.

 

Chapped Skin:

 

Boil slippery elm bark and let it cool. Then apply to a chapped area.

Use this to heal burns and cuts.

American soldiers would use slippery elm to heal gunshot wounds.
