Experience Montana

A lot of sayings that are regularly repeated by many are flawed.

Follow your passion is one of them.

Cal Newport says that we need to match our job to our pre-existing passion.

Now, passion takes time.

The passion mindset thinks: what can the world offer me?

The craftman mindset thinks: what can I offer the world?

The more we focus on loving what we do, the less we love what we do.

Our focus should be on plugging away and getting really good at something so that others can’t ignore us. So that what we do brings value to others. We need develop a craftman mindset.

Bleu Horses Three Forks

There is beauty in making art of living things only to put it in an environment that you could easily imagine them being in. Bleu Horses Three Forks Montana is quite impressive piece of art. Here you can find 39 steel horses on what is called Kamp Hill. The artist Jim Dolan not only paid for all the materials to make the horses but has designated this piece to be owned by the people of Montana. The entire thing took 15 months to craft and it really shows with each of the horses being different, not only with their poses but also with all the details throughout. The land here was donated by the local Wheat Montana who actually makes and packages their bread nearby and gave Jim the land they found unsuitable for growing wheat. Thanks to all these factors while driving by (or walking over) you can enjoy such impressive work. This is one magical place.

Blackfoot River

There is a river that had a place in a book and really put it in the thought of pop culture. This river is Blackfoot River which was a great visit. The river moves very quickly which made it very fun to skip rocks on. Cause the waves really do go up and down. The types of rocks that work change depending on the way that part of the river flows. Its definitely a very advanced flowing river which is something we rarely notice.

Glacier National Park

When people say that the narrow road is difficult they are not wrong. Even more so if that same road is on a cliff with a rock from a mountain on one side and nothing but a barrier protecting you from a possible falling of the vehicle on the other. Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park is exactly that. It follows the Continental Divide of North America for 48.7 miles. It really does follow to mountains to a point where we saw waterfalls regularly. Mountains surrounded as you wind through a masterfully made road. It’s hard to imagine how they repair the road since it is so narrow. We happened to have 3 kayaks and a canoe on the roof of our car and where worried they might get badly damaged if we went back the way we came. We happened to come here on the day that the road opened. It was closed due to how long it took to plow the snow and do repairs. This road is one of the most beautiful we have driven on and will give you a pretty good idea of what this park has to offer.

World Museum of Mining

Orphan Girl is a silver mine which you can actually visit. Today it is on the grounds of the World Museum of Mining in Butte, Montana. When you first get here there is a town which is a replica of a town of how a mining town would look like, with homes, medical supplies, and blacksmith shops. But to go on the tour you can go past all that to enter the mine which is gated and locked. During the tour we got to see how the miners mined their way down. We also saw many of the tools and learned how these tools worked. We learned of all the deaths due to this mine and how many of the people who worked here were foreigners.

Swan Lake Campground and Trading Post

If your on a road trip and need a place to rest for a great price then this is one great option. It is also located near Glacier National Park. Here they offer tent sites, cabins, and yurts. There is a pond and a stream which our children loved.
