Weekend in Leavenworth

It is no surprise that those who live in Washington all know about Leavenworth. Why wouldn’t they? This Bavarian-themed town is so charming. It is almost as if you have traveled to Europe. Now the architecture and the design of the shops and resorts are a sight to behold but Washington’s Cascade Mountains is what really catches your eye. We came to Leavenworth in September but there is so much to see and do year round here. The leaves were just changing into their fall colors.

I was asked on Instagram recently,  what my husband and I have intentionally done to protect and cultivate our marriage/relationship?
That is a really good question. Before we got married my husband started going to prayer groups (I joined him as well) because he wanted God to bless our marriage so I would say that God being the center of our marriage has kept us together and close.
We also really love each other. Now that doesn’t mean that there hasn’t been times when we would rather not be in the same room as each other. That however, only lasted a few minutes because we always turn to God when we have a disagreement. God has a great way of softening our hearts towards each other.
I strongly believe that a man has to really cherish his woman. When we dated he came to see me every single day. He lived 25 minutes (one way from me) and would come and pick me up from K-mart (that was my only job) and spend just a few minutes with me but it was worth it for him. To this day he loves spending time with me and now our children.
I also hate conflict. I think that this has been a big bonus. I laugh or joke a lot instead of saying something that would hurt my husband or getting upset. As a result there is no tension.
We spend every night together (being intimate, having fun, laughing). Now this has to be one of the best things we have done. Mamas with little ones I know how tired you are and how all you want at the end of the day is rest when your little one is asleep but spending time with your husband each day is what will keep that spark going. He will want to come home and you’ll look forward to actually talking to an adult who happens to be your best friend (please don’t complain to him when he comes home about how hard your day was or how the children misbehaved). If you need to talk to someone then turn to God or share with your sister or mother. Unless something serious is going on then please share with him. (I hope I’m clear with what I mean here).
We have also protected our relationship by not being friends with the opposite sex. Nope I have no male friends besides my husband and those in my family or his.
Also not speaking poorly about each other. We really shouldn’t speak poorly about anyone.
Not feeling sorry for myself….Big enemy : self pity !!!!

There is so much to write and say about marriagebut 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 says it best…
” Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its way (that’s a tough one !!???); it is not irritable (ok so I just got in bed and now I need to get up to turn off the lights ??? ) or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends…hope, faith, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

Sleeping Lady Resort

Sleeping Lady is named after the profile of the mountain because it looks like a woman lying down.

This place is full of unique art pieces and you can even do an art walk.

This resort has it all. It is so well spread out here too. Why wouldn’t they be spread out if their property is nested on 67 acres? There are different clusters to stay in. There is a laundry room, play barn, fitness room, pool, hot tube, volleyball and horseshoe area, library, and restaurant. Dining at the Kingfisher is a delight because it is an all you can eat buffet with so many amazing choices to choose from. You have to make sure you leave enough room for the variety of the dessert they offer here.

We stayed in Fountain Cluster. It was a two story wooden cabin. As we walked out our door we saw the Tsutakawa Fountain of Dreams.

Wild at Heart Horse Rides

We love hiking because we are able to see a place in a whole different way but riding a horse through the valley takes it to a whole different level because there is a bit of excitement involved.

Wild at Heart Horse Rides is a great place to learn how to ride horses with a good guide and if you have never went horse riding before you will enjoy this because of the scenery. When we came the leaves were just changing there colors so it was just magical.

Now, I have had some bad experience in the past with horses so I was a bit scared this time but Erin knew just the horse that would be a great fit for me. I was so glad I had such a positive experience. This will be one ride that we will never forget because it was Peter’s, Elizabeth’s, and Eve’s first horse ride.

Dinning

There are so many dining choices to choose from in Leavenworth. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner at Kingfisher Restaurant & Wine Bar. This is an amazing place especially if your traveling with kids. It is buffet style and since kids like to see what they want to eat and not just have a menu read to them this place is perfect. I feel you are better off with going here because they will eat better this way. At least I know our kids do. They have such a variety of things and their fruit tasted so fresh.

Munchen Haus is a great place to get food which is in the German cuisine, specifically those that are famous all around the world. And they don’t fail at making good food that we are all familiar with like Hotdogs, Pretzels, and Beer.

Located at 709 Front Street Leavenworth, Washington.

We also dinned at South Restaurant. If you love Latin food then you’ll love it here. It is located in the center of Leavenworth so as you do some shopping you can come here and enjoy some fresh and modern Latin food.

The Gingerbread Factory

Imagine enjoying gingerbread houses all year long? That sure feels like Christmas to me. They offer so many things here and not just dessert. We came to have breakfast here. Their seating area is so cute. Makes me want to spend a lot of time here. I loved the Christian music playing in the background and the bible verses and sayings throughout the place.
