Medora

I do not always believe in myself. I talk myself out of things because I’m scared and I don’t think that I’m capable, talented, or good enough.

If it was up to me, I’d stay hidden and unseen.

When my husband and I were dating, a prophet saw a vision and in that vision I was dressed in white and I was all the way in the back, in the corner of the room. God was asking me why I was hiding? He told me to stop hiding because he wants to use me.

At that time, I focused on the part that I was dressed in white because I thought I was the biggest sinner. I couldn’t wrap my mind around how God could see me clean or white. Didn’t he see all my flaws?

After 18 years, I now see the important part. The part where God believes in me. The part where I need to start believing in how God wants to use me. Little Irina who is unqualified can be used by God. SAY WHAT? I have to be willing to get out of my comfort zone. I need to start thinking differently about myself. If only I could see myself through Gods eyes.

This morning I woke up with so much gratitude towards my husband. You see, he has always believed in me. He has encouraged me and at times even pushed me to do the things I am scared of. When I told others how hard something was or how I didn’t like doing this or that, others told me to simply quit. But not my husband.  He knew what I was capable of. He still does. He believes in me.

Please dear friend know that you are important.  That you are capable, talented, and good enogh. There is a reason that you are here. God wants to use you. YES, YOU!

If you have a person in your life who doesn’t help you talk yourself out of doing something,  who keeps cheering for you even when you have no cheer in you, then he or she is a keeper. A true blessing.

Visiting Medora should be on everyone’s bucket list and here is why.

Theodore Roosevelt National Park South Unit

Right at the Medora entrance of Theodore Roosevelt National Park you can see the single building that played a major role in Roosevelts life. That building in the Maltese Cross Cabin. Theodore Roosevelt lived here for a year only leaving after hearing that his wife and mother died hours apart. That was the beginning of his depression which he had to conquer before becoming president. Today some of Theodores personal items are in the cabin while most are general items which were common at the time.

Theodore Roosevelt National Park is very much built on erosion via water. At Wind Canyon Trail you can walk a mere half mile to see both the Little Missouri River and the badlands it has created.

If you want to see heavy contrast between land covered with grass and land totally barren you should check out Buck Hill Overlook Trail which is 0.4 miles long and gives you a view of a part of Theodore Roosevelt National Park that is pretty far down. This overlook is truly beautiful.

Badlands Overlook is impressive. It really reflects what the badlands have to offer and highlights them. Here you can see badlands for miles with seemingly no end.

Perception

You mind can play tricks on you. It can make assumptions and even confuse your eyes. At Perception you can enjoy optical illusions in Medora, ND. At Perception they take you on a tour that begins with some picture based warm ups only to then show you the amazing sets that they have. These sets are mostly focused on how deceptive a camera is and how much more advanced the human eye is. Things that are so obvious when you look at it are not so in a picture. When you finally go to the tilted house your brain is in conflict. That is because you see that the house looks straight but your body knows it isn’t. Here water rises, steps that look sideways are not, and also balls go upwards. This is truly a trip for your mind and how you perceive things.

Dinner and a Show

Are you in Medora, ND and looking for something to eat at dinner? Well you could always check out the Pitchfork Steak Fondue. The steak here is deep fried while having been pierced by a pitchfork. That’s a first for us on both the pitchfork and deep fried steak parts. This is an outdoor event which opens at 5:30 and ends at 6:30. After 6:30 you can still be here, they simply stop serving meals and the band stops playing music. While your eating you get to look at the Badlands which is pretty good from here.

This musical has a cast of over a dozen which includes local talent and talent from all around the nation. Here they come together to sing and act in celebration of Medora and all the important events that occurred here. Each Summer they have a lineup of side acts with occur on different dates. A Teddy Roosevelt Salute to Medora

There are people out there who know a lot about a certain person. Most people know someone at that level but how many people know people they’ve never met well? Here’s another question, of all the people who do how many also look like that said person? Well among all of the live impersonations of people we have seen the best is A Teddy Roosevelt Salute to Medora. The actor was very energetic and had plenty of jokes that he throwed at the audience, being very charismatic at nearly all times. As a live performance it seems to be fairly different each night based heavily on who is there that night. There was a questions segment in which he answered all the questions very well. Did you know that the teddy bear was inspired by a event that occurred to Roosevelt? Well we didn’t give the teddy bear much thought before that but now everytime we see a teddy bear we know the reasons for its existence.

Badlands Motel

This is one amazing place to stay if your exploring Medora. It is in the center of Medora. You can walk to so many activities by simply stepping out. Most things are within walking distance.  Here they have a swimming pool. The rooms were beautiful and clean.
