SLO County Experience

“Things that matter most must never be at the mercy of things that matter least. ” – Johann Wolfgang Van Goethe

We say no to a lot of things because if we say yes to things that matter least we won’t have time for the things that matter most.

It’s so important to know what matter’s the most to you.

What matters the most to you?

Harmony Headlands State Park

Harmony Headlands State Park is a very small park. There is a single hike that takes you to the coast. The nature there is very green and well protected. You should be aware of ticks here which are avoidable if you stay away from tall grass.

River Oaks Hot Springs Spa

River Oak Hot Spring Spa is a very relaxing place to visit. There are multiple different private hot springs and all of them are fairly isolated while still being outside. At this location you can make the hot spring hotter or colder and towels are available here so if your traveling you won’t need to pack extra things. The hot spring and restroom were both very clean.

Taste of SLO County

Big Bubba’s Bad BBQ

Big Bubba’s Bad BBQ is a location with spot on decor and architectural design especially for a restaurant. There were 2 jail cell themed sitting areas both of which have 4 seats. The ribs are so well cooked that the meat comes right off the bone. The sandwiches tasted good and the mac and cheese was very cheesy and had lots of extra ingredients. We had a good experience and when we came it was nearly empty maybe that was because it was in the middle of the week when we came here.

Niner Wine Estates

Talk about a beautiful setting for a winery. All the hills around are covered in grapevines. Except a patch of trees that was left in the shape of a heart in between the two slopes. So as you wine taste the whole back drop talks about the love for wine. There’s lots of great wines for you to enjoy. My 3 favorites were 2011 Reserve Doce Nove, 2015 Sangiovese, and 2018 Sauvignon Blanc.
P.s. as you wine taste there is also some beautiful gardens to explore. There is a restaurant on site and the chief has his own garden. This makes it 100 percent true farm to fork type of place.

Estrella Warbirds Museum

Estrella Warbird Museum has nearly any motorized vehicles you can think of that are older. They have a large selection of plane outside and even a full runway. When we went there one of the planes was being checked because they were going to fly it to another location. They also had helicopters and tanks outside and some of the tanks you are allowed to walk inside. There is also a huge collection of cars inside the building from military vehicles to race cars. The collection is extremely well kept and there were plenty of volunteers who are very informed on any topic that is relevant here.

The Carlton Hotel

The Carlton Hotel is located right in the middle of the town. With restraunts, brew houses, wine tasting, bakeries, boutiques and shops are within walking distance.

The Carlton Hotel originally opened in 1929 having 3 floors with 50 rooms and 2 suites. In the 80s the building had become run down and closed. It was renovated and reopened in 2005.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. With large gorgeous bathrooms. There is a gym and  a inner courtyard sitting area on the second floor.

Located at 6005 El Camino Real, Atascadero, CA 93422.

Thank you River Oaks Hot Springs Spa and The Carlton for the amazing experience.
