Weekend in Washington County Oregon

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

This is probably one of the most beautiful counties in the state of Oregon. Rolling hills covered with beautiful evergreen trees and all the valleys are covered in farms and orchards. You can see corn, blueberries, apples, pears, lavender, grapes, here and it is hard to imagine a more beautiful sight than a beautiful orchrid and in its background of an evergreen forest rising above the valley. So during our weekend here we wanted to experience a little bit of everything in this beautiful part of Oregon.

Stub Stewart S.P

This cabin village is inside L.L Stub Stewart Memorial State Park. As you pull into the village you get this feeling that you are in the middle of nowhere because past the cabins all you see is a seemingly never ending forest. But nevertheless cabins here have electricity, electric heaters, furniture inside ( all you need to bring are pillows and sleeping bags with you). Cabin #11 had a fire ring and a picnic table overlooking the view. And even though you dont have a bathroom or shower inside the cabin they are conviently located in the middle of all the cabins. These also have lights, flushing toilets, and hot water. So what you find in the MTN Dale Cabin Village is all season glamping at its best for an affortable price. As far as we are concerned this sure beats regular camping. Don’t get us wrong we love camping but during our September road trip we wanted to do more sight seeing.

The Tualatin Plains Presbyterian church

There is something quite special about an old church. It might be because there is so much history to it. This is an old scotch church founded in 1873 by the Scottish pioneers. There is an historic cemetery around this beautiful church. In the back is a wooden church playground. We have never seen a playground like this before.

Located at 30685 NW scotch church road hillsboro, oregon 97124.

Quilt Barn Trail of Washington County Oregon

A Barn Quilt is a 8×8 wood or metal platform that is painted. They may be hanging or standing. And there are series of these in an area that is known as A Quilt Trails. Currently 43 states in America have Quilt Trails. The first of all Quilt Trails is in Adam’s County, Ohio. The first ever Barn Quilt contained the image of a Ohio Star.

Pumpkin Patch – Jim Dandy Farm

My kids and I love U-Pick farms. But to be honest with you I have never been to a place where you cut the flowers for your own bouquet. So when we saw the sign it was impossible to pass on by. As we went inside the little fruit stand I was provided with a basket and a pair of shears.  And told us to just pick any of the flowers we liked. Now this garden was a bees heaven. We gently and carefully picked the flowers that stood out to us. Trying to cut them long enough so that we could have a bouquet.
With the grapes that we bought and the flowers we picked we only paid $14.00.

The backdrop of this flower garden is nothing that we have ever seen before covered with evergreen trees.

Disc Golf Course

There are two disc golf courses at L.L Stub Stewart State Park. There is a beginner course and a medium to difficult course. Both are in the forest which makes for a more difficult terrain. It is difficult to see the net most of the time. It is a enjoyable and interesting experience.
