Happy New Years friends!

I learned so much in 2018. Last year I started a capsule wardrobe and learned what kind of clothes I liked to wear. I also ran half a marathon and learned to love running. I read 72 books in 2018. I learned to bake bread which my family loves.
This year I want to learn how to make cheese. I also want to get toned. Learn how to apply makeup because seriously I need help. ?I also want to become a better photographer.

I’m not making any big resolutions for 2019 because we travel so much and a lot of time my goals go out the window since we focus on spending time as a family and sight seeing.

We wish all of you beautiful friends a blessed 2019. Did you make any resolutions this year? Do you have a word this year?

Weaverville Joss House State Historic Park

Weaverville Joss House State Historic Park is the oldest Chinese temple in California. It was built in 1874 and is open for tours most of the year. The guide was very informative and could answer all the answers we had. The temple is not for the purpose of worshipping but to remember a successful period in Chinese history. There was also a school here and this building was used as the community for the Chinese community of the area.

Trinity Lake

Trinity Lake is a great place to fish with Bass, Trout, and many more species. And is a artificially made lake that was made by a dam. The dam was built in 1962 and is 538 feet tall and 2,450 feet wide. It was built during the great depression because of the Californian drought.

There are some great vista points which you can hop out of your car and take in the view and take a few captures before passing through.

Lewiston Lake at Pine Cove

One of the best things we have bought is our canoe and two kayaks. We love connecting with each other and nature and we get so much peace when we are out in the water. There are a few easy spots to lower your kayak or canoe at. The view was so stunning. We decided to hang around the grassy patches because it was a cold day and we weren’t sure if it was going to rain or not. Plus, it is pretty shallow near the grassy patches.

We also fished off a wooden platform. If your into fishing then you’ll love it here because this place has an abundance of fish.

Lakeview Terrace Resort

There isn’t much in the area. Trinity County is rich in nature though. We stayed at Lakeview Terrace Resort which is right across the street from Lewiston Lake. The location of this resort couldn’t be any better. We stayed in a three bedroom cabin. This cabin had everything we needed inside. Having a kitchen and bathroom inside the cabin is a big bonus. They also have a playground, treehouse, and swimming pool. We had daily visitors: deer.

Located at 9001 Trinity Dam Blvd, Lewiston, CA 96052.

Trinity River Fish Hatchery

The Trinity Lake Hatchery is a great place to visit and see how hatcheries operate and the life cycles of fish. We have been to so many hatcheries but we have never seen fertilized fish eggs with eyes. Their little tail move too. It was one of the coolest things to see. We also got to see fish with their yolk sac on their stomachs so that they don’t have to find food.

We learned so much about salmonids here. If you come during the right time you can see how they spawn fish here as well.

Located at 1313 South Main Street, Weaverville, CA 96093.
