You Pick in Brentwood, CA

posted in: Travel | 0

One of our favorite things about Brentwood, California are all the u-pick farms. There are over thirty seven u-pick farms. We enjoyed living minutes away from all of these farms.

There is something different to pick year round. You can pick apples, apricots, apriums, berries, cherries, cucumbers, figs, grapes, green beans, nectarines, peaches, pears, persimmons, plums, pluots, pomegranates, pumpkins, strawberries, walnuts, and more.

If you are interested in a list of farms and when you can pick certain fruits visit http://harvestforyou.com.

Nunn Better Farms

This farm has only cherries to pick. They do sell olive oil and wine but those can be purchased online. We love that you can pick both white and red cherries here. We recommend coming in the morning before it gets too warm and during the week. It gets pretty crowded during the weekend.

Located at 2777 Sellers Ave, Brentwood, CA 94513.

Mike’s U-Pick

Here you have the option of picking cherries or peaches. In 2000 everyone has to wear masks while picking fruit even if your outside. Some u-pick farms won’t allow you to pick anything unless you have a mask on.

Berry Best Farm

Berry picking is sure fun and Berry Best Farm offers a variety of berries to pick. You first have to pay an entry fee of $1 to enter. A box is provided for you.

Located at 7450 Balfour Rd, Brentwood, CA 94513.

Bacchini’s Fruit Tree

Now because of Covid-19 reservations online were required. We actually had to pay online and bring tickets with us. So if you want to come here you have to plan ahead. They have so many different fruits to pick. All the fruit costs the same price. We just payed for the boxes and filled them up with fruit. They also have a fruit stand so if you want amazing fruit and you don’t have time to pick anything then this option is available as well.

Located at 2010 Walnut Blvd, Brentwood, CA 94513.

Pickled Loquats:

 We used to grow our very own Loquats when we lived in Sacramento. We loved picking them and simply eating the ripe ones. They have multiple seeds, as a result less fruit and more seed.
1 pound of ripe loquats. You’ll want to trim them, remove the pits, and take skin off.
To Make the Brine:
* 1 1/3 hot water
* 2/3 cup apple cider vinegar
* 1 tablespoon salt
* 2 teaspoon sugar
* 6 garlic cloves sliced
* slices of ginger
* 1 jalapeno sliced
You want to first sanitize the bottles. We boil our first.
In a pot heat the water, apple cider vinegar, salt, and sugar.
Place in jar loquats, garlic cloves, ginger, and jalapeno.
Add hot brine.
Keep in the fridge for a week and then enjoy.
