Bass Lake, CA

We hadn’t realized how much we love traveling until it was taken away from us during quarantine. We missed watching people, interacting with others, eating out, and the freedom to explore. Bass Lake has it all. It is great for fishing, kayaking, swimming, hiking, biking, shopping, and dining.

Bass Lake is only seventeen miles away from Yosemite which makes this location even more magnificent but due to covid-19, Yosemite was closed so we were not able to explore it this time. The great news is that there is plenty to enjoy and do in Bass Lake, CA.

Way of the Mono Trail

When you find a trail that is easy to do and has a major payoff at the end, you know you found a gem. You’ll be standing on Indian grinding rocks while looking at Bass Lake. Here is your chance to talk with your children about the first people who inhibited the area. Now, this trail is only 0.5 miles long which makes it perfect to bring a picnic with you and sit on the Indian rocks while enjoying the view.

Willow Creek

If you come when the weather is nice you will find so many people enjoy this area and we can see why. We drove by and saw teenagers jumping into different swimming holes. It is a gorgeous location. You can hike here which is about 2.5 miles long but we decided to walk to the water. We also came around 7 am in the morning so it was too cold to swim and we were the only ones here.

Bass Lake

We attempted to kayak as a family but we wouldn’t say that Bass Lake is the friendliest for kayaks. Since Elizabeth had her own kayak we ended up kayaking for a few minutes only because the boats nearby made it difficult for her to steer. All around Bass lake you will  find so many people swimming, kayaking, boating, and enjoying the lake. It also seemed that just about everyone had a fishing pole but we didn’t personally see anyone catch fish.

The water was so warm. We wish we had brought our swimsuits.  Nothing could stop Elizabeth and Eve from getting in the water with their clothes.

The Pines Resort

The Pine Resort has it all. You can choose from staying in their chalets, suites, or rental cabins. We stayed in the lakeview 2 queen bed chalets that had a kitchen, living room, bathroom, wood burning fireplace, patio with lake view. The chalet has a rustic feel to it. Pines bakery, Ducey’s Bar and Grill, boat docks, swimming pool, hot tub, fire pit, playground, and more were all walking distance from our chalet.

The view of Bass Lake makes The Pines Resort a perfect choice.

Food

We usually don’t tend to eat out that much especially if we have a kitchen in the place that we are staying at but we missed eating out so much that we ate out pretty much the entire time we stayed here.

They have so many different options and the wonderful thing was that Marina Burgers, Miller’s Landing South Shore, and Pine Village Bakery and Pizzeria all had outdoor seating options.

Thank you The Pines Resort for the wonderful stay.

Thank you for reading our blog post we share a new blog post every Thursday at 8pm.
