Mission Beach

Mission Beach is a sandbar community but if there is one way to explain it is like a surfers paradise, Southern California style. Once you get here you will get this laid back vibe to it which you can not find in most other parts of San Diego. I’m sure the entire San Diego felt like this until it got built up and became the big city that it is now. It is almost like stepping back in time and that is why Mission Beach is the perfect place to have a relaxing weekend.

“It doesn’t take two, as the old saying goes. It takes two to keep your marriage the same; it only takes one to change it. When you change, the relationship changes. ” – David Schnarch, PH.D.

Isn’t that the truth? It takes one to apologize, one to forgive. One to make more time for our spouse. One to love wholeheartedly. One to go out of the way for the other. One to choose to be the best version of thy self. One to get closer to God. If we want any of our relationships to change we have to be willing to change first and not wait for the other person to change because it takes one for change to occur or else things will always stay the same.

Bahia Resort Hotel

This is a great place to have a relaxing time with your loved one and it is in San Diego. Bahia resort takes up the entire peninsula and it is located between Santa Barbara Cove and Ventura Cove. There is a public beach on the left side of it but the side we stayed in was in the private beach which only guests from the resort get to enjoy. The beach has many private beach cabanas to make the beach experience even more comfortable. These are comfortable enough to sleep in. There are a lot of pathways to enjoy on the property. They even have two rescued seals which you can observe. The swimming pool is located in the center of the property which gives you more privacy and is very convenient to get to. We stayed in a Bay front suite and it was set up in a way where you felt like you were not in hotel or resort but more like a condo. It had a kitchen and living room which was separate from the bedroom. There was also a large walk in shower. The main sitting area goes out to the patio and then to the beach. It was nice to look out and see the water and Belmont Park in the distance with the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster. The only thing we regretted was that we did not have our children with us. They would have loved this place. We will definitely come back with our children.

Café Bahia

Located on the same property as the Bahia Resort Hotel is the Café Bahia. We enjoyed dinner here. I got grilled Tequila Lime Shrimp, Arugula Beet salad, and Pineapple Mango margarita. The presentation, the quality, and the taste was so amazing. My husband got the Hawaiian braised boneless beef short ribs but he substituted the wasabi mashed potatoes and he got the thyme seasoned french fries instead.

Oceana Coastal Kitchen

This restaurant is beautiful inside. It has a large jellyfish aquarium inside. We decided to sit outside next to warm heaters. My husband ordered the crushed niman ranch pork chop that had mustard cream with apple and celery heart salad but being the potato lover he is he substituted the roasted winter root vegetables for the Yukon gold mashed potatoes. I had the two duck risotto and ocean house roll.

Mission Beach Park

This beach is right next to Belmont Park so once you have surfed, chased the waves, flew a kite, picnicked, or anything else you enjoy doing while on the beach you can then walk to Belmont Park and ride on the roller coaster or grab something to eat.  Also, if you want to jog, walk, or ride your bike you’d enjoy the boardwalk. When you are here you can see why so many love this place because it sure is an amazing beach life. Mission Beach has two miles of ocean front.

Mission Point Park

This is a small park almost at the edge of the neighborhood. It is basically surrounded by water on all sides. It is mostly surrounded by the bay as well as The Entrance Channel from the ocean. It is close to the ocean so you can see the beach and the pier on the other side of The Entrance Channel in ocean beach. Here you get amazing views of Mission Bay and it is not as crowded as the beach is.

What beautiful pictures you took! I love the sight of that beach, it looks so inviting. The sky is so blue and perfect. I’m starving so I’ll just reach through the screen and grab his scrumptious meal. The restaurant, room etc looks for inviting as well.

Indeed San Diego is Beautiful. These pics capture the wonderful time you had. Having a private beach that only guests can enjoy, the many private beach cabanas and being able to enter the resort from many different paths may have made you feel you were on kingdom all your own. I hope you remember to take the kids next time so they too can enjoy the beauty of Bahia

This looks fabulous! I LOVE the beach, but usually spend my time in Florida. I have honestly never been to California, but am definitely going to have to visit soon! The beaches there look just as amazing as my FL beaches…and I’m all about any time I can spend by the water! 🙂

It is so wonderful to hear that you were hosted by Bahia resort hotel and what a close proximity to delicious food ( which your photography captured beautifully). And I am a mermaid so naturally I love the beach. Belmont park sounds like a lovely place to relax at as well.
