On the Road Through Idaho

“We tend to measure our worth by the big highlights that mean the most to us, not the small moments that mean the most to others.”- Regina Brett

Gosh I wonder what our children will remember the most about us. I know that it will be the small every day things like making meals with them, laughing over a good meal, twirling around, comforting each other about an upcoming dentist appointment, rowing together on the lake, dancing after a good movie, deep conversations we have together, and all the sweet moments that might not seem like a big deal but really are.

University of Idaho Arboretum and Arboretum

This is a very well kept up and clean garden. It is one extremely pleasant walk. In this botanical garden you get to see plants from three different continents : Asia, Europe, Eastern Northern America, and Western North America. Once you have walked the 1.5 mile loop you will have seen Asia flowering crabapples, Russian olives, and a variety of pines and firs, and many other plants and trees.

The Palouse

The Palouse is a region that connects Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. This region was once a prairie but is no longer because of agriculture. The Palouse is best known as the most important lentil farming region in the country. We found the golden hills to be so beautiful. I bet every season is beautiful in its own way here.

Shoshone Falls

Shoshone Falls is a beautiful waterfall that you can find in Idaho. And this is definitely a impressive waterfall due to the fact that it is taller than Niagara Falls. It is very accessible and convenient to get to and is not very busy except for on the weekends. We were so glad that we got here when we did because as we were walking to our van we saw two busses arrive with tourists. We came during dry season so there wasn’t much water but it was still worth the stop.

Yellowstone Bear World

We went to Yellowstone but unfortunately we did not see any bears. When we were in Montana I kept looking up and thinking that anything brown or black was a bear. However, each time it was just a cow. Cows are cool animals but I’ve seen cows hundreds of times. We did not spot one wild bear during our road trip so when we saw. Yellowstone Bear World is where we had to get our bear fix. Here you get to drive near over a dozen bears. These bears can cross the road or walk right next to your car. It was a really neat experience. We got to see a brown bear in water playing with a stick and washing his feet.

Dworshak State Park

This is one of the most laid back and relaxed campground we have been to in a long time. It may not be crowded because of the crazy lower hill driving you have to do to get here but once you get here it is totally worth the drive down. We stayed in a rustic cabin and when we say rustic we mean they went out of their way to make it look like it is really old from interior design to the outside bench. But at the same time you have electricity, heater, and air conditioning. The negative thing about this campground is that there are no showers. The playground overlooks the beautiful lake. When we came here the water was very low and it was fun to be able to walk where during the rainy seasons it is covered in water. We saw footprints from a variety of different animals.
