The miracle of life points directly to Gods existence. “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.”- Psalm 127:3.

Down the Canal Game

In this game you have to travel through the fallopian tube, the uterus, labor and birth, birth environments, and postpartum period. This game is perfect for those who are going into midwifery or those who plan to get pregnant. It helps you to make wise decisions during and after birth. They call it use your B.R.A,I.N.S. What are the BENEFITS of this test or procedure? What are the RISKS? What are the Alternatives? What does your INTUITION tell you? What if we did NOTHING and waited a while? Will this lead to a SAFE and SATISFYING outcome?

You can order this game from http://www.BirthIntheKnow.com

Fetal Development Month by Month:

We used air dry clay to create the fetal development that occurs each month. The baby is constantly growing. The baby looks like a tadpole at first. By twelve weeks you can distinguish the fingers and toes. You can also hear the babies heartbeat. During 19 to 21 weeks mama can start feeling her baby move and kick. At 36 weeks the baby can now be delivered. The baby is considered “at term” at 37 weeks and beyond.

Cleavage and Blastocyst Formation

We made our own playdough and created the cleavage and blastocyst formation.

To make your very own play dough you will need 1 cup of flour, 1/4 cups of salt, 1/2 cup of warm water, a few drops of oil, and some food coloring. You want to mix the salt with the flour. In a separate bowl mix the water with the food coloring and oil. Then slowly add the dry mixture to the wet mixture. If it is still sticky add more flour.

Dissecting the uterus specimen, pregnant with embryo:

We ordered 3 different kinds of uterus specimens from www.carolina.com. One had one cow, one sheep, and seven piglets.

It was such an unique experience.

Position of fetus during pregnancy:

For this we played a memory matching game. It helped us remember the names of the different possible positions the fetus can be in.

The ideal position for birth is the anterior position.

Anterior: babies head is down and their face is facing towards mama’s back.

Posterior: babies head is down but face is positioned towards mama’s back.

Breech: babies buttocks or feet are towards the birth canal.

Transverse Lie: baby is lying horizontally.
